The elephant families are led by MATRIARCH’S who are generally the oldest and largest adult female members.
Families consist of one or more related adult females and their immature offspring. Elephant females live together with the young one in family groups. These herds are led by a single matriarch, often the biggest and oldest female, responsible for making decisions for the group.
